🎨 The artist collective of the "The Lazy Data & Research Institute" (TLDR) had a brilliant idea: they created "Legal Lullabies" - a website that reads you Instagram's terms of use. So you can fall asleep to it. 💤 Another humorous proof that we urgently need to change something about complicated legal texts like terms of use & co. Fact is, we all accept user agreements every day without knowing the exact content - mostly out of convenience, but also because companies contribute with complex details of their terms and conditions to the fact that it is simply too much effort for us citizens to read them. Our behavior in this regard is very human: Using a service is apparently more important to us than knowing the terms and conditions of offers. Legal Design offers an extremely useful contribution in this area: we simplify complicated legal texts and create clarity instead of confusion. Damit du dabei einschlafen kannst. Ein weiterer, humorvoller Beleg dafür, dass wir dringend etwas an komplizierten Rechtstexten wie Nutzungsbedingungen & Co ändern müssen. Denn Fakt ist: Wir stimmen alle täglich AGBs zu, ohne die Inhalte genau zu kennen – meist aus Bequemlichkeit, aber auch, weil Unternehmen mit komplexen Ausführungen Ihrer AGB dazu beitragen, dass es uns Bürgern einfach zu anstrengend ist, sie zu lesen. Sehr menschlich ist dabei unser Verhalten: Das Nutzen eines Dienstes ist uns scheinbar wichtiger als die Bedingungen dafür genau zu kennen. Legal Design leistet an dieser Stelle einen äußerst nützlichen Beitrag: wir vereinfachen komplizierte Rechtstexte und schaffen Klarheit statt Verwirrung. Denn es geht beides: Transparente und verständliche AGBs, die gleichzeitig rechtssicher sind.
