I thoroughly enjoyed my two days in Athens, listening to lots of interesting presentations and catching up with old friends and making new acquaintances. Many thanks to Alexandra Verla and Sarah Sheehan for organising such a fantastic programme.
Legal Design in the Judiciary
During my presentation on legal design in the judiciary, I shared my experiences of a visionary project in Germany which deals with the use of artificial intelligence in the justice system. During the project, which lasted several months, we conducted user-centred research with over 600 judges and lawyers, using the results to hold a workshop. Over the course of just two days, 40 judges, academics, judicial staff and IT experts developed six prototypes illustrating what an LLM structure in the judiciary might look like.
The response from our Greek colleagues showed that legal design could become a model for the judiciary to follow.
